Maggie reservoir & aftermarket h/e + battery relocation kit

more pics added top post #37

fired it up last night. Once we worked the air pocket out of the lines and primmed the pump, we have great flow

Always wanted to do this, so parts are ordered.

Moving the battery to the trunk with this

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/TAY-48103/

ended up not using the battery box. WAY TOO BIG for my optima 75/35. So I got one of these for holding the battery in place.

connecting the factory power cable to the new cable going to the trunk we used the casper 103004

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CEI-103004/

Upgrading the maggie reservoir with this

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MOR-63494/

had to buy a couple 90 degree fittings. Hunted a couple local hardware stores. But ended up with these from summit, not cheap, but they do the job.

And also upgrading the heat exchanger to this. Gonna place it just behind the lower grill area.

http://www.lightningforceperformance...-04_Cobra.html

Update 9/29. Last night Rob aka Roblobster2 and Josh aka LSPWR came by the house and we removed the front bumper cover, drained the maggie reservoir, removed the battery, and maggie h/e and while we were in there, removed the a/c condenser (it had been slightly damaged during a recent mod fest so I had picked up a replacement and waiting to put it in. It had been repaired while in the car and didn't appear to be leaking again, but thought I'd go ahead and change it out while we were in there).

Waiting for the new H/E to arrive Thursday.

update....

Decided to paint the h/e stealth mode. h/e is installed, waiting for a few fittings to arrive tomorrow. Changing out the tranny cooler while were at it. Moved several other little things and reworked the chiller killer a bit too.

Cripes Tom...that should be a pretty sweet setup...should really tidy up the engine bay (as if it isn't shiny enough)....

Here are a couple shots of the brackets Josh made using 1 1/4" x 1/8" aluminum, the very end that you can not see is bent at a 90 degree and screwed to the upper tab on the h/e. Then it's extended out off the top end of the h/e and screwed to the underside of the crash bumper.

actually... looking at using one of these, and standing it up under the radiator cover with the filler cap coming out the stock position.

I didn't use the above tank. I used this and mounted it on the inner fender

Probably gonna have to make our own brackets and that's fine. I'm actually hoping to hide this and keep the stealth look. I actually asked the manufacture about painting it black, they said "no problem, just don't use a thick heavy paint".

one mans dream is another mans nightmare. LOL It's definitely been a project that moved along rapidly.

First there was the stock motor with cam, headers maggie 112 making 5.5 lbs. it made 528rwhp 497 torque. Then the 402 with ETP 225 heads, maggie 122 overdriven made 11lbs of boost and that made 625rwhp 630 torque.

Still some minor details that need finished up that are DRIVING ME NUTS !!! But winters coming and there will be plenty of time for that.

On another note, I ordered the overflow tank last night. It will be here tomorrow.

DAM IT.... I hate piss poor customer service! I ordered the h/e late last Wednesday from Lightening Performance on their website. Exchanged a couple emails on Thursday. And then I get a phone call wanting to confirm my ship to address. I called back and confirmed the address and was told it would still ship Thursday.

Well, today UPS delivers and no h/e. I call Lightening performance and have to jump hoops and barrels for them to find my order. Get put on hold and then told, it's shipping today. WTF? I tell them I was told it would ship last Thursday, then they tell me it fell through the cracks. I explained how I had planned to tear the car apart Wednesday night to install this. I might as well have been talking to a brick wall.

I was very polite, never raised my voice. I wonder if they were ever going to call me and let me know they didn't ship I doubt it! I wonder if or when they would have noticed?

end of rant

rant part 2....

I was told on the phone that it would ship today and that I would get an email with a tracking number. Well, they closed at 5pm CST, their voice mailbox is full, I didn't get an email and i checked their website and accessed "my account" and my order still shows "processed" with a shipping status of "Not shipped"

So, now I have sent them an email and I will call again tomorrow. ugh

update... late last night, I received an automated email with tracking number. H/E due to arrive tomorrow.

I'm guessing you're quite the expert at removing the front bumper cover. I've never done it and based upon what I hear about the fragile clips, I'm a little hesitant to do it. Any tips?

There definitely is a trick to it. Remove the two screws in front of each front tire. Remove the three screws above the front Pontiac badge. Now the critical part.... place one hand on the foglight, press firmly, take your other hand and pull outward on the inner edge where you removed the two screws at the inner fender well. You will pull straight out from the side of the car.
