New Project - OEM Paddle Shifters
After about 5 months of searching, I have finally found someone to sell me paddle shifters that fit our cars. I have a manual, so I won't be using them for that, but I do have other plans for them.
They're in the mail, but I have some pictures:

It's going to be the same intent as the other thread I posted (radar), but now everything is going to located on the wheel within easy reach. Before I was going to be using the TC/Door Lock/Gas Release buttons as part of my plan, but now I should be able to keep it all on the wheel. I was also going to use the DIC buttons, not sure if I'll still use those.
My general plan is to make 3 or 4 modes for the steering wheel control:
Mode 1: OEM Controls
Mode 2: iPod Controls
Mode 3: 9500ci programmable function controls.
Mode 4: Maybe CB volume/squelch
The paddles will be mute and power buttons, so no matter which mode the stereo controls are in, I will have control of my radar systems. It sounds good in my head at least.
I still have to figure out how these work also, but I assume it's on resistance like the stereo controls. If it's not resistance, I'll make it work on resistance. Then I'll just use the same decoder I currently have in place from my iPod project.

I got a picture of the OEM harness:
AND... I found a second set. Now I can have a set in the car and a set for bench testing, so hopefully this project will move smoother.
I'm also unfortunately having to learn serial communications. The decoder is going to be the master, and I'll have a bank of relays as the slave to do my bidding.

And, the new hardware will be USB updateable. I'm getting sick and tired of having to take everything apart to reflash the chip and change one line of code. The new USB decoder should go in early next week, and the paddles will go on when ever I get them.

So the question I have is, are these plug and play for the intended purpose? If one were to find a set is it as simple as a few screws and a plug into the existing harness to have active paddle shifters for our A4?

I don't know, the first picture with them looks like the same shifter, but it'd be something in the BCM.
I think it's off a 5sp auto also:

If it would work with their controls and transmission controller on our cars, it would work with these paddles and their transmission controller.

I got the 1st set, bad news is they won't fit an OEM GTO steering wheel. There aren't mounting holes, and the rubber around the inner rubber spoke is too big.
Good news is that the 2nd set I bought with the complete wheel, so I'll take some comparison pics to see if maybe the mounting holes are under the rubber.

Well, USPS left a note on Saturday saying they tried to deliver, even though I was home all day. I went to try and pick it up at the central post office, they said my zip was serviced by a private warehouse not open to the public, but they have a shuttle and I could get it on Sunday. I go there in Sunday, they tell me my package never made it onto the shuttle on Saturday, and to try again Monday.
Well, this was all in Chicago, and I had to drive back to Milwaukee for work this morning so I can't get my steering wheel for another 1-2 weeks.
Add to that UPS sent me a $13 bill for customs on my HSV wheel, I'm really hating those companies.
When you ship something, you should really only trust FedEx if you give two ****s about it.
